Blog 5 (optional)

We have all been bullied at some point in our life, I never really thought too much about this until one day in class we had guest speakers come and talk to us about bullying and how much it hurts people. At first I thought to myself that it was just another boring talk about how we hurt peoples feeling from saying mean things. Although this is important we have all been hearing this from our mothers since birth and we all know that words hurt. After sitting there for a few minutes listening to the women speaking I realized that there were quite a few things that we say in everyday life that doesn’t seem like bullying is in fact bullying because it is hurtful. They said that if you purposefully leave someone out of something fun that is bullying, at first everyone including myself was taken back because you don’t think that that is a form of bullying but it is because you are demeaning the person you are not inviting. The person one way or another is going to find out and that they were not invited to the event that all the others were and the person will feel like they are less important than the others. I now saw that this could be seen as a form of bullying and that anything that makes a person feels out of place or degrade then is not only extremely rude but also bullying. This is one of those things that wakes you up and makes you think about all those times that you invited the whole school to a party except for those select few. It makes you feel shame and awareness for all of those that you have bullied because they are just as human as you are. I was bullied for almost a year out of my schooling, I remember fighting a kid because of the smallest thing that he said to me, it was just one of those things that kept boiling up until I could no longer control myself. Next thing I knew I was suspended from school and I looked like the bad guy for starting the fight. That made me angrier than anything, I left class that day motivated never to be treat people with disrespect because not only is it not worth it but it is much easier to treat people with respect and be the better person even if you don’t necessarily like the other person. I really enjoyed that Professor Vallier brought people into the class to speak about bullying because it was kind of nice to see how many people are affected by bullying.

Blog 4-FGCU in the future

The year is 2041, a young man by the name of Mitch Brown awakens in his dorm. He lives in the newly rebuilt Palmetto Hall after a crazed man destroyed the old one after failing out of his Comp. 1 class for never attending class. He rubs his eyes and walks into his 500 square-foot bathroom where he finds his laser brush to brush his teeth and his robotic assistant by the name of Alex Ovechkin 2.0. His assistant prepares a healthy meal for Mitch while he showers and gets ready for his day. While leaving his dorm he bumps into his roommate Andy and his assistant Tomas Vokoun. They just got back from sledding on the virtual mountain just installed on the library lawn. Andy explains that they started playing a new game on the mountain called daytonin, the game is simple yet adrenaline filled. The players must ski down a long funnel placed on the ice until they reach the valve. The valve is protected by the other team and must be opened in order to win. To open it the players must ski around the guards without being tackled out of their skis. The game is similar to hockey, basketball, and football all rolled into one. All the players must work together in order to reach the valve. Andy said that the game was lots of fun but was disappointed by the success of his assistant Vokoun. Every single game Vokoun would let everyone by him as if he didn't care. Andy wanted someone who could help out his team better. Mitch explained that he would help figure something out later that afternoon after all of his classes, Andy agreed and they both went on their ways. Mitch walked out of his building to where the old busses used to pick kids up. He greeted the man at the counter and asked "is the red Lamborghini still in?". The man said that the red one had just been rented for the day. Mitch agreed to take a Lamborghini Reventon rather than the red Mucielago he requested. Within minutes the car was delivered at the door and the keys were put in Mitch's hands. This was a new program just started at the school this year to help promote Lamborghini since they moved their plant to Naples, FL this past year. Lamborghini saw the local college nearby as a great place to get speed hungry young adult a chance to drive a new Lambo everyday and also get reviews on their cars. Mitch gets to Professor Valier's class in a matter of seconds and reclines in his chair just moments before Vallier walks in. The class is very short today because they are just working on their blogs in class. Although it is short Mitch has a hard time focusing because he can almost smell the prime rib steak being thrown on the grill at SoVi today. As soon as class is over he bolts out of the door and races his Lamborghini to SoVi. Mitch jumps out and heads into his favorite cafeteria of all the land. On the menu today is the usual prime rib, fresh sushi, and head chef Sidney Crosby's famous P.B. and J's. After chowing down on his favorites Mitch Heads back to his room to discuss a possible trade with Andy. When he arrives he finds Andy watching old shows our great grandfathers used to watch such as, Gold Rush, FUBAR, and Young Frankenstein. Mitch joins him and watches the shows until he finally asks if he wants to discuss the team. Andy explains that he just ordered a new assistant by the name of Jose Theodore to replace Vokoun as the protector of the valve because Vokoun's software was only good for another year anyways. Mitch wants to participate in daytonin also so he needs to find a protector if he wants to play. Mitch asks Ovechkin 2.0 if he wants to play but Ovechkin says that he's better at offense then defense. Mitch decides that a bad protector is better than no protector at all so Mitch offers to give Andy $1 for Vokoun to play on his team. Andy agrees and gives Vokoun to Mitch's team so they can play. Mitch was exhausted from all the work he did that day so he went to bed shortly after the trade took place. Legend has it Vokoun and Ovechkin were unstoppable at daytonin the year of 2041and won the Washington Everblades their first ever Pabst Cup.

It seems that we often buy products that are endorsed by celebrities and athletes. When you look at this add you know that Carl's Jr.'s instant salads are not necessarily enjoyed by Kim Kardashian and it gives you false hope of becoming in great shape as herself (although the salads will guarantee you an enormous ass comparable to hers). As humans we always want the best of the best because it often makes us feel superior to those who do not have the best of everything. This plays right into celebrities endorsing products because we think that whatever they are using is the best. So naturally we want to be like them.
